Community Challenge
FROM ACTion Alexandria:
ACTion Alexandria has two new community challenges:
Share Your Favorite Children’s Book!
From Where the Wild Things Are to The Giving Tree and Charlotte's Web, we all remember the endearing characters and stories from our childhood. Many children, however, do not have access to quality children's books. ACTion Alexandria would like to hear your ideas for the best children's books so that we can use your suggestions to compile a holiday book wish list. The book wish list will be used to gather donations for the Firefighters and Friends to The Rescue Toy Drive. All participants in the ACTion Idea Challenge will be entered for a chance to win a book from Hooray for Books! Customers who buy books at Hooray for Books! to donate to a child will receive 15% off their purchase startingNovember 1. Visit: www.actionalexandria.org
Help Firefighters Provide Coats for Kids!
Each fall, as the weather grows colder, Fairfax firefighters in partnership with Operation Warm provide new winter coats for children in the Northern Virginia area who would otherwise go without a coat in the coldest months. Last year, Fairfax firefighters gave out almost 3000 coats! This year, ACTion would like to do our part by raising funding for 50 coats for 50 kids with a total of $1500. Thanks to a $500 matching grant from the RunningBrooke Fund, we are already 1/3 of the way to our goal! As a bonus, this year, all coats are made in America. Visit: www.actionalexandria.org

5 Little Pumpkins
Here are the words to the favorite Halloween book.
5 Little Pumpkins
5 little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The 1st one says, "Oh my it's getting late."
The 2nd one says "The witch is in the air"
The 3rd one says, "I don't care"
The 4th one says, "I'm ready for some fun"
The 5th one says, "Let's run, run, run"
Then came the wind
and
blew out the lights.
And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.
