Volunteer Alexandria + Bikes for the World Big Event Bike Collection Saturday, September 10, 8am-12noon (extended) Bikes for the World collection drive: Landmark Mall   - Event is rain or shine! - Rain location is a section of the parking garage near Macy's Bring your old bike to donate!  Bikes for the World collects bikes and distributes to partner nonprofts putting old bikes to productive use and providing an affordable option  of transportation to people in many parts of the world. Flas flood warning

Flash Flood Warning

September 7, 2011

The City of Alexandria is under a Flash Flood Warning until 1:45 pm today. Heavy rain continues to fall, with two additional inches expected.  Excessive runoff from the heavy rainfall may cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, streets and underpasses as well as drainage and low lying spots. 

High waters may be on the roadways and in low-lying areas. Residents are urged to use caution when driving and do not drive through high waters.
