April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
A child is abused or neglected every 86 minutes in Virginia. Every 12 days, a child dies from abuse or neglect. Governor Bob McDonnell has officially recognized April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the Commonwealth. This designated month is not only a time to become more educated about abuse, neglect and prevention, but to also thank the many Child Protective Services workers and advocates.
