Northern VA Training Center is a residential training and therapeutic facility for individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities that provides these individuals an enjoyable and fulfilling life.
The Commonwealth of Virginia made an agreement with DOJ to close 4 of the 5 training centers by 2020. NVTC is scheduled to close by 2015.
If shut down, these individuals do not have a place to go. Some are severly disabled and doing this would only create more problems for them and our community. There are many benefits to keeping this facility open and is even a cost savings to our community. There are issues that have not been properly addressed and the staff, residents, family members and others are very concerned that these residents will lose their home.
A percentage of the sales will be donated to helping NVTC keep its doors open. Donations are also accepted to help with the legal costs of fighting for the rights of these individuals. More information can be found at: www.parentsandassociatesnvtc.
