ACPS Names Stacey B. Johnson Chief financial Officer

STACEY B. JOHNSON NAMED ACPS CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER 

 

Alexandria Va.  — Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Superintendent Morton Sherman is pleased to announce the appointment of Stacey B. Johnson as the school division’s new chief financial officer.  Johnson joined the ACPS team in 2009 and served as the interim chief financial officer since January.

 

"I am so pleased that Stacey will be a member of our executive staff," said Dr. Sherman. "Her service as interim CFO has been exceptional during the past several months as ACPS underwent a necessary and impressive transition in our financial services." 

 

Johnson served as the ACPS budget director for two years before managing the implementation of the division’s new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, after which she accepted the interim CFO position. Before arriving at ACPS, Johnson lent her financial management and process improvement expertise to Conservation International (Crystal City, Va.), The National Academies (Washington, D.C.) and The Urban Institute (Washington, D.C.).

 

“Her integrity, expertise, professionalism and care for her colleagues have created a high functioning and cohesive department,” said Dr. Sherman. “Stacey has created a spirit of cooperation and an environment of clear and precise performance expectations.  Her leadership has helped address every recommendation included in the CIP performance reviewand put ACPS on a sound foundation for enhanced financial management.”

 

Johnson holds a Master of Business Administration from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami. She is an active member of the Government Finance Officers Association and Association of School Business Officials International—organizations which have awarded ACPS distinguished budget awards each year of Johnson’s service as budget director.
