The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the entire Washington, DC metropolitan region, including the City of Alexandria, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today. The hot temperatures, combined with high humidity, will cause heat indices to reach 110 degrees, or more. Excessive heat is expected to last through tomorrow evening, and the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat-related illnesses can occur.
