MacArthur is collecting funds for grocery cards for families in need if school is closed for an extended period of time. A number of students at MacArthur and across ACPS rely on free breakfast and lunches at school, and prolonged and unexpected closures have a significant impact on those families. The PTA will be collecting grocery gift cards on Friday and Monday. If MacArthur closes, we have families that could use the gift cards while school is not in session. The gift cards will be distributed by the school social worker, Ms. Fitchett. Gift card donations of any amount are appreciated. In the event that it isn’t necessary for schools to close, we will hold the gift cards until the end of the school year and give them to students for summer.
