Alexandria Mentoring Partnership Seeks Volunteers

Want to use a small amount of your time to impact a child and the community? Mentoring is proven to be among the most effective ways to prevent crime, drug abuse, poor school performance, gang involvement and teen pregnancy. A short amount of an adult’s time can make a long-lasting impact on a child, the community, and the volunteer.

The Alexandria Mentoring Partnership is hosting an information session. Please consider attending and please share with your groups. Thanks a lot.

Monday, August 12, 6 p.m. registration; 630 program. See attached, including RSVP information.

Did you know?
Mentoring, an adult spending time with a child, one hour a week is PROVEN to
help kids do better in school, avoid fights/crime, feel better about
themselves, and graduate from high school.

The cost of incarcerating a young person for 1 year is over $100,000. The
cost to help prevent it is 1 hour of an adult's time per week.

A high school drop out turning to a life of crime or drugs can cost the
country 2.3 million dollars. Mentored youth are 60% more likely to
graduate.
