The new Academic Enrichment course at T.C. Williams provides an after-school extended learning opportunity for students in English, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. The course is designed to support the conceptual learning currently taking place in English and math classes. Each course provides the additional time needed for more in-depth investigation of concepts and the opportunity to revisit difficult concepts.
The Math Academic Enrichment course is structured to help each student achieve success through incremental development and continued practice and review. Students will understand, organize, build, solve, and reflect by making meaningful connections and using real world applications. Students will complete an interactive set of activities that align with the material being presented by the student’s math teacher. In addition, this course will equip students with a solid foundation in problem-solving and critical thinking for greater success in their current and future mathematics courses.
The English Academic Enrichment Course is designed to help students understand the importance of literacy in the 21st century. The course will focus on areas of analyzing text and printed materials, recognize and explain research based skills, understand and produce original writing materials, and language acquisition. Student will also be required to reflect on their daily learning and create a plan for acceleration.
Academic Enrichment courses are held twice per week from 3:30p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Courses are taught according to the following schedule:
English – Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday
Algebra 1 – Monday/Wednesday
