Community Meeting in Arlandria

The Alexandria Police Department will be holding a community meeting at the Cora Kelly Elementary gymnasium on Monday, December 14 at 6:30 p.m. to address community concerns in the Arlandria, Lynhaven, Hume Springs, and surrounding areas. Please join us in an ongoing discussion to further the communication between the Police Department and the community.

Old Town Crime Information

in the Old Town area 

Armed Robbery-Commercial 1400
King St (Gold Works) 1215 hours

The owner of the above business, reported that two unknown B/M's entered
the store and took at property. One subject displayed a small black
handgun. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction. An area
canvass was conducted with negative results.

Felonious Assault Queen Street and Fayette Street
0208 hours.

A 29 year old, B/M, was shot in the lower abdomen by an unknown suspect(s).
The victim was taken to G.W. Hospital in serious condition

Alexandria Police Adopt New Crime Database

RAIDSONLINE: Police Adopt New Crime Database The Alexandria Police Department is pleased to announce the implementation of RAIDSONLINE.com, a website the public can use at no cost to search for crimes reported in and around specific areas in Alexandria. The Alexandria Police Department began using a similar program, CrimeReports.com in 2008. RAIDSONLINE.com replaces the CrimeReports.com tool. RAIDSONLINE.com allows users to search for historical data as far back as January 1, 2013, while the previous reporting site would only allow the user to search the previous six months, in one month intervals. RAIDSONLINE.com is another tool that Alexandria Police Department uses to provide information about local crime to the City’s residents. The application also includes an advanced analytics dashboard which empowers the user by allowing the ability to create charts and graphs showing crime patterns relating to time of day or day of week. In addition, RAIDSONLINE.com allows users to create “hot spot” maps, an analytic layer that displays the density of criminal activity in their neighborhoods. Rash of Thefts of Copper Downspouts

There have been reports of copper downspout thefts throughout Alexandria in recent weeks.  
The first reports were in Del Ray, then I heard about them on Stonewall, Timberbranch Parkway and now on Fontaine St.  

Apparently the majority of these thefts are happening in broad daylight, with a few reports of overnight thefts. 

Witnesses have described the suspect as a tallish (6 ft), white man with blondish hair.  
He drives a gold/gray older Camry-type car.   

The suspect detaches the downspouts and then folds them up and places them in the trunk of his car. 

Police reports have been filed and the police have been able to dust for prints.

Police Release Suspect Composite in Homicide

UPDATE: Police Release Suspect Composite in Homicide

Alexandria Police is seeking the identity of the suspect who shot two women, killing one, in the 2400 block of Ridge Road Drive on February 6, 2014. The suspect is described as an older white male, balding with gray hair, and a full beard. He was last seen wearing tan outerwear, possibly a jacket or work coat.

The public is asked to remember this composite is a compilation of facial features, not a photograph. If any of the features in the composite remind you of someone, please contact the police immediately. Keep in mind that the suspect may have recently changed his appearance.
