Construction Work Scheduled at Four Mile Run Park Community Building Site

For Immediate Release: November 20, 2012

Construction Work Scheduled at Four Mile Run Park Community Building Site

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will perform construction work at the Four Mile Run Park Community Building site, 4109 Mount Vernon Ave. Work will include installation of drainage lines and soil for future rain gardens.
The drainage work is scheduled for the week of November 26 and is weather dependent. Soil installation is anticipated to occur in December. For your safety, please use extra caution when near work areas.
The rain gardens will be planted spring 2013 with trees and shrubs suitable for bio-retention. When completed, the new rain gardens will increase storm water infiltration from impervious areas of the park, thereby reducing pollutants into the Four Mile Run Watershed. For general information on Rain Gardens, specifically for homeowners, visithttp://www.dof.virginia.gov/mgt/print/Rain-Gardens-Tech-Guide.pdf.
For additional information, contact Judy Lo, Project Manager, with the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities at 703.746.5490 or e-mailjudy.lo@alexandriava.gov.
