4th Annual Tons of Trucks Event

The City of Alexandria will host its fourth annual Tons of Trucks event on Saturday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Chinquapin Park (3210 King St.). The event will take place rain or shine.
Attendees of all ages are invited to explore and get behind the wheel of more than 20 different vehicles from seven City departments. Vehicles include a fire engine, sheriff's car, front-end loader, dump truck, bucket truck, marked police car, trash truck, sewer truck, vacuum truck, buses and more. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet the staff who help build, maintain, serve and protect the community, and learn about the vehicles they use. Truck-themed activities include an art project with the City's Mobile Art Lab, book readings, giveaways, photo opportunities and food truck vendors.
Parking is available at T.C. Williams High School (3330 King St.), First Baptist Church (2932 King St.), and along the southbound side of King Street in front of the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center and Aquatics Facility. The fee to attend is $5 per person or $15 per family of four. To save time in line, tickets are available for advance online purchaseuntil noon on Friday, July 13. Tickets can also be purchased upon entry.

First Thursday in Del Ray

First Thursday: Red, White, and Blue takes place Thursday, July 5 from 6pm to dusk along Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray. The street festival features live music from Mars Rodeo, themed activities, and more. The event is free and open to all.

Join us at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square at 6 p.m., when The Old Guard presents the colors and members of the Fife & Drum Corps perform.

Participants are encouraged to bring new single or queen size sheets, new towel sets, new pillows, cleaning supplies, or grocery gift cards (in $10-$25 increments) to benefit New Hope Housing, a part of the City's effort to ensure there are no homeless veterans in Alexandria.
