Your Input Sought on Suicide Prevention Plan
You can help local communities develop a regional suicide prevention plan. The Community Services Boards (CSBs) of Northern Virginia are asking community members to complete a brief survey to provide important information for the development of a regional suicide prevention plan. Your input will help identify key areas of focus for the regional approach to suicide prevention.

This survey is open to anyone, so you are encouraged to share this information with others who may be interested in completing the survey. The survey is available athttps://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6SHN2NQ until August 15.

Online Survey for Pedestrian & Bicycle Master Plan

FROM THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA --

Online Survey and Interactive Mapping tool available for the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan Update

We want to hear from you!

As part of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan Update, the City is seeking community input on existing walking and bicycle issues and needs, and ideas for improving the environment for walking and biking. An online survey and interactive map can be accessed from the project webpage. The survey and map are available in English and Spanish and will be available for input through early October 2014. This is the first of many opportunities, including a public meeting on September 30 and events throughout the year, to help shape your City. Stay tuned for more information!
The update of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan will include an evaluation of existing conditions, constraints and needs, as well as a review of existing policies, goals and objectives. The plan will identify short and long-term projects to make it safer and easier for people to walk and bike in Alexandria. As part of this project, Complete Street Design Guidelines are being developed to ensure that Alexandria’s streets are serving the needs of all users.
The City of Alexandria is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended. To request a reasonable accommodation, e-mailGeralyn.Taylor@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.4084, Virginia Relay 711.

Avoid Rt 1 near Potomac Yard on Saturday Night

Route 1 Traffic Detour on Saturday, August 9

For Immediate Release: August 6, 2014

On Saturday, at 11:00 p.m., northbound traffic on Route 1 will be detoured onto Potomac Avenue. The detoured traffic will continue north along Potomac Avenue to the intersection of Potomac Avenue and East Glebe Road, where vehicles will be directed back onto Route 1, via East Glebe Road.

This detour will allow for the modification of two Virginia Dominion Power manholes. The work is a result of the construction of the Transitway lanes, and is not associated with Dominion's proposed 230 KV line.

The northbound lanes will be reopened by 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
