Project Play Seeking Volunteers

Who we are
Project Play is part of the Alexandria Childhood Obesity Action Network (ACOAN), working to improve play opportunities for children in the City of Alexandria. We are your neighbors, early childhood and healthy living activists, folks from the Parks and Recreation and Health Departments, and other City offices and organizations who want to improve and enhance play spaces for kids in Alexandria.

What we’re doing
Project Play is organizing a “Community at Play” series in the city of Alexandria to take place in late summer through early fall.  Exact times and locations are TBD. The goals of the play series are as follows:
·      To bring families/ children who have/care for young children outside to play in targeted neighborhoods
·      For families with young children to have an outlet for physical activity near their home
·      To introduce creative ways to enhance play for the benefit of the families and apartment owners

Why we need you
If you like kids, families, being active, and warm weather, you’re right for the job! We will need volunteers to attend our play series to help lead games, pass out information, prepare snacks and more.

We will have a play series prep meeting on Thursday, July 16th at 5:30pm at the Durant Center. Come to learn more about Project Play, sign up to volunteer for “Community at Play,” share creative ideas, and get to know other fun volunteers!

Police Week & Police Cars

Saw a long line, about 10, of old (vintage)Police cars today.
They were in town for Police Week.

(wish I could have gotten pictures of all the cars, but they were moving)

New Public Art Along Duke St.

These are so much better than a big silver box.

Thank you Alexandria for this wonderful, creative, colorful, beautiful, public art!
