School Supplies Tax FREE August 1st to 3rd

August Sales Tax Holiday: School Supplies and Clothing

The First full weekend of August (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) each year. 
This year the holiday will take place August 1-3, 2014.

During this three-day period, purchases of qualifying school supplies selling for $20 or less per item, and purchases of qualifying clothing and footwear selling for $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales tax. 
Retailers may also choose to absorb the tax on other items during the holiday period, but they are responsible for paying the tax on those items to the Department of Taxation.

City of Alexandria Fall Sports

The Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is now accepting registrations for the 2014 fall season for the Alexandria Titans Youth Tackle Football Program, Lil Titans Flag Football Program, Miracle League Program, Girls Volleyball Program and the Cheerleading Program. The programs are available to City of Alexandria residents.

DASH Minor Schedule Changes Go Into Effect July 27, 2014

On Sunday, July 27, DASH will implement the following schedule changes:

AT1   
  • Saturday service frequency will increase to every 30 minutes between Landmark Mall and Seminary Plaza  
AT4    
  • Minor timetable adjustments to improve schedule adherence
AT3-4 Loop  
  • Minor timetable adjustments to improve schedule adherence
     
AT8    
  • Saturday service timetable adjustment to improve coordinator with Metrobus 29N service along Duke Street
  • Sunday service, last eastbound trip extended to King Street Metro

  • AT9 Weekdays: Operates between Mark Center & Potomac Yard
  • AT9 Saturdays: Operates between Bradlee Shopping Center & Potomac Yard
