"Heart of Del Ray Award" Nominations

The “Heart of Del Ray Award” is presented annually by the Del Ray Business Association to the business that the community feels serves as the heart and soul of Del Ray. On February 1st, we will announce the 5 finalists and open up voting by the community.  Before the voting process to select the winner begins, we would like to get YOUR nomination for who you think should be one of the five businesses on the ballot. The Del Ray Business Association Board will then take into consideration all the nominations and comments in order to determine the five finalists.

Nominations should be based on which business best demonstrates their warm and welcoming attitude to the community/customers, their commitment and generosity to the community, and to their overall contribution to what makes Del Ray the best place in the world to live, work and shop!  In other words, what business warms your “heart” when you here its name? Former winners of the Heart of Del Ray Award are as follows:

Remember - we are just soliciting nominations - we are NOT voting yet. The five finalists will be announced on February 1st and voting will begin at that time until February 10th.

New ACPS West End School Community Engagement Meeting

Alexandria City Public Schools is beginning the process of community engagement around the site of a new West End school. The plan is to purchase and retrofit the office building at 1701 N. Beauregard, making substantial changes to the inside to convert it into space suitable for approximately 650 elementary students. The purchase would include the parking garage adjacent to the building, part of which would be converted into outdoor space for students at the school. The new West End school is expected to be ready to open in September 2018.


We want to hear from you about this process.
