Community Lodgings Honors Single Mother & Volunteers at Union Street Public House, Raises Awareness and Funding for Alexandria’s Homeless

Nonprofit group teams up with local restaurant to provide food, fun and entertainment for friends and supporters

Who: Community Lodgings is an Alexandria-based nonprofit organization who works with homeless and low-income families to lift them to self-sufficiency. Their programs include transitional and affordable housing for homeless families and afterschool programs for homeless and low-income families. Community Lodgings will honor program graduates and volunteers with the help of local leaders such as Congressman Jim Moran and Mayor Bill Euille.

What: Community Lodgings will hold its annual spring fundraiser “Spring Forward to Union Street” at Union Street Public House. The event will include a silent auction as well as open bar, entertainment, dinner and dessert. (See schedule below.) This is the third consecutive year that the restaurant’s owners have donated their venue, food and staff to Community Lodgings to host its annual fundraiser. Bishop Ireton’s String Ensemble will perform during the seated portion of our event

Where: Union Street Public House is located at 121 South Union Street in Old Town Alexandria.

When: Sunday April 15^th, 2012 from 5:30pm to 9:30pm

Why: To raise financial support for Community Lodgings’ vital programs which help Alexandria’s homeless and low-income families reach self-sufficiency.
