This upcoming Memorial Day, American Legion Post 24 along with local organizations will honor and remember those veterans who have given their lives in the service of our country. Members of the American Legion Post 24, TC Williams JROTC color guard, and Alexandria's patriotic citizens hold a Memorial Day Service in the Alexandria National Cemetery located at 1450 Wilkes Street on Monday, May 28, starting at 11:00 AM.
The guest speaker will be Major General Donald E. Fick, U.S. Air Force, Director, Programs, Analysis & Evaluation, J8, National Guard Bureau. During the ceremony, several wreaths will be placed on Post 24 past commander's headstones and at the Unknown Soldier Memorial in the cemetery. The public and press are invited to attend and participate at this holiday weekend event.
Alexandria National Cemetery is accessed by vehicle from Route 1 onto Wilkes Street. It's an easy walk from Whole Foods also.
