Mixed Precipitation Upcoming

Mixed Precipitation Upcoming

The National Weather Service is forecasting a mix of snow, sleet, and rain in the D.C. area, beginning around 4AM Saturday morning, and ending just after noon Saturday. In the District, precipitation will likely begin as snow, and gradually change over to rain after sunrise. Snow totals will likely be anywhere from a trace to 1.5".

Suburbs to the north and west of D.C. will likely receive more snow. These suburbs are under a Winter Weather Advisory, and will likely receive anywhere from 1 to 4 inches of snow.

Because the temperature will hover within a few degrees of 32 for much of the next 48 hours, precipitation is likely to melt and refreeze. Citizens should drive with particular caution and keep a lookout for slick spots and black ice.
