Alexandria Park & Recreation Commission and Youth Sports Advisory Board Schedules Joint Meeting on July 18 

The City of Alexandria Park & Recreation Commission and the Youth Sports Advisory Board will hold a joint meeting on Thursday, July 18 to receive a presentation on the unsolicited proposal the City received to build a private sports and entertainment complex on the current site of Hensley Park. The meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. in the City Council Workroom, City Hall, 301 King St. Following the presentation, the Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting. 
At its June 25, 2013 meeting, Alexandria City Council discussed an unsolicited proposal it received from The St. James Group to build a sports and entertainment complex on the current site of Hensley Park on Eisenhower Avenue.  For additional information on the proposal, visit Unsolicited Proposal for Sports and Entertainment Complex
The Park and Recreation Commission is an eleven-member advisory unit established by City Council in March 1970. The Commission advises City Council in matters relating to parkland, recreation and culture, and participates in planning recreational activities and services through its advice to Council and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities. The Youth Sports Advisory Board is a subcommittee of the Commission.
