Alexandria Citizen Corps Council Hosts
Community Preparedness and Awareness Forum on September 27th

As part of National Preparedness Month and Be Ready, Alexandria, the Alexandria Citizen Corps Council will host a community preparedness forum on Saturday, September 27, 2014. The Citizen Corps Council highlights its First 72 (Hours) On You theme to raise awareness and collaboration among Alexandria residents and community leaders to prepare for natural and/or man-made disasters. Experts warn that the first 72 hours after a natural or man-made emergency will be a critical period to prepare as first responders may be overwhelmed in the immediate aftermath of an emergency.

Citizen Corps Council will welcome Mayor Bill Euille, Office of Emergency Management, Health Department, Police Department, Animal Shelter and Volunteer Alexandria to speak on a variety of perspectives about the threats we face in our community and how to prepare for them. As a community leader and active citizen, we want your input and involvement!

Join us from 10:30 am 11:30 am on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at George Washington Middle School, 1005 Mount Vernon Avenue.
Main entrance on Mt Vernon Avenue
